A tasty looking 2002 Dodge Viper GTS has popped up on eBay, with only 18,000 original miles. The seller says the car has been garaged since new – and it looks it. The car is number 67 of 360 Vipers built to commemorate the Dodge Viper GTS-R that raced in the American Le Mans series.
Production of the GTS started in 1996, as Dodge attempted to bring a few more creature comforts to the Viper which went on sale in 1992 with no air conditioning, or power windows. The biggest change came by way of a 50 hp increase thanks to an improved cooling system and crankshaft that Dodge produced in partnership with Lamborghini. The massive 8-liter V-10 generates 450 hp and 490 ft-lb that propels the car to 60 mph in 4 seconds on its way to a top speed of 185 mph.
The seller has outfitted the car with racing harnesses, an upgraded exhaust system and a roll cage, making this Dodge Viper GTS an ideal track car. Though the car was in a minor accident, it appears that everything has been sorted, paint and bodywork appear to be in excellent condition.
The engine looks to be in equally good condition, with everything looking as it did when it rolled off the Detroit assembly line in 2002. Vipers are great cars because they offer a wonderful combination of performance, exotic styling and reliability, and this particular Dodge Viper GTS is a great example of an American classic.
